Lighthouse Fun Fold

I have another awesome fun fold for you today! Jean Hixson, my dear friend and stamping buddy, created this new type of fun fold. Jean does a lot of “behind the scenes” work for me when she’s not doing her real job running a couple departments at a large international insurance company! Thanks for all your help Jean!

It’s time for another Festive Friday Challenge!  I love being a designer for Festive Friday and this week’s challenge #FF0039 is Lighthouse Day (August 7) and/or Light Rays/Starburst.   #festivefridaychallenge  I hope you’ll make a card, scrapbook page or 3-D item and join us. If you want help entering, please email me at Beth@StampingMom.com and I’d love to help you!

Just ask my current Joy Team members, we have a great time stamping, laughing, and having fun together as a group. Everyone needs a group to belong to, come and join our amazing group!

Here I am with some of my Red Ryder team mates and other Pedal Off The Pounds (POTP) team mates doing RAGBRAI. (The great bike ride across Iowa.) There were seven from my team riding on Tuesday. Their names are all on the sign. It was the first time five of them had ever participated in RAGBRAI. Bob and Sandy, my co-leaders, made this awesome 4′ x 8′ sign and put it at the end of their road, which happened to be along the route. Can you see how beautiful Iowa is? To the right in back of me you can see wild flowers, and the bright blue sky. I believe there were about 20,000 people riding on Tuesday.

So every year we stop at the Pink School Bus that is called Mr Pork Chop. The $7 pork chops that you eat with your hands and a napkin turned into $9 pork chops this year, but still well worth it. In fact, it’s always the best pork chop I’ve ever eaten (maybe because we typically ride 30 or so miles before we get there). This year I didn’t get my homemade pie, but I had this awesome homemade Raspberry ice cream instead. This was a small, believe it or not, and it was amazing!

In past years I’ve always ridden with Steve and his brothers. This year I had a great time with Anna and Deb, two sweet gals I met through POTP, and Anna is on my Red Ryder team.

At one point Tuesday afternoon, I was speeding down a hill and saw Steve on the right side of the road. I yelled to him, but didn’t stop. He’s so fast, I knew he would catch up with me in no time. Problem was, I didn’t know he had hit a hole in the road and fell. The EMT wrapped up his wounds and he finished the ride.

This is a picture of the start of our ride with Steve, his brothers and nephew. If you’ve read my blog for long, you may know I used to call Steve, Superman. He’s very humble and was embarrassed of the name and asked me to stop. He makes very good protein muffins with no sugar and I’ve shared them with my Red Ryder team. He makes them at least once a week so the Red Ryders started calling Steve, #muffinman. They went so far as to send me the “Do you know the Muffin Man” song. While I thought it was hilarious, Steve wanted a different name. The Red Ryders and I have now agreed, he will from this point forward be known as #triguy. He participates in several triathlons each summer and prefers it to #muffinman or Superman. By the way, #triguy stayed home and recovered from his road rash Wednesday, and was back to work today.

Blessings,

Beth

Good to hear both of you survived ragbrai and thst Steve’s injuries were not too bad. My neighbor was just in front of the two who had the serious accident and she was one who stopped to help.
Miss you. Steve’s muffins sound wonderful. A good WW addition?
Would he share his recipe?
