Steve’s Dad, Harold, passed away yesterday and is in heaven now.  He started Hospice last week so it wasn’t a surprise, but was quicker than we anticipated.  Harold was an awesome Dad and Grandpa and will be greatly missed by his wife, Ruby, four sons and daughter-in-laws, and thirteen grandchildren.

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.”- 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

Everyone deals with grief and stress differently.  Steve started typing up stories about his Dad, while I sat down and made the Dragonfly Card for Ruby.  Ruby loves receiving cards.

Here’s one of Steve’s stories about his Dad.

“Something that not everyone knew about Harold is that he was a band groupie.  He was a huge Elvis fan, so Beth and I invited him and Mom to a concert by Eddie Miles, an Elvis impersonator.  We had no idea what we started.  He and Mom ended up following Eddie Miles literally all over the country, including to Pigeon Forge TN, which turned out to be where they took their extended family for their 50th wedding anniversary.

Beth and I had the privilege of taking Mom and Dad on the Eddie Miles cruise to the western Caribbean.  I had to explain to my friends what I was doing, and they laughed at me.  To be honest, I wrote it off as doing something for the sake my parents.  Little did I know that it was going to be a blast.  I watched in disbelief as my parents crashed multiple private parties, after seeing that they had good food and free drinks.   My Dad’s explanation was all he had to do was say that he was old and confused, and they would just let him stay anyway!”

Here’s Harold and Ruby with “Elvis” Eddie Miles.

At the top of this post you can leave me a comment.  I love hearing from you!

Blessings,

Beth 🙂

Thinking of you at this time, Beth. Your card is amazing and I’m sure will bring comfort to Ruby as she copes with her loss. Psalm 91:4 Ruth S.

I love the story Steve shared about his Dad. I think sharing great memories is wonderful, for everyone who knows you or his Dad and especially for the Grandkids to have those great memories. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. ❤️

Steve and Beth, I am so sorry for your loss. I know you spent Christmas with them so that was s blessing. And that is a wonderful thing for you todo- writing stories about him. What a legacy for your children and your siblings. And I love hearing that your mom and dad were groupies! Your dad was very cunning wasn’t he? I’m glad you had such wonderful memories with them.
